The Inner Temple
I recently came across a beautiful quote in a film: “God is expressing through me, as me.” One could replace “God” with Goddess, Higher Power, or simply Divine Energy.
As part of the Tantra path, we learn of our own inner temple. I think the term “inner temple” refers to a way of regarding our bodies — and the wisdom our bodies carry — with reverence. The more we cultivate stillness within, the more we are able to listen inside. As we spend more time in our inner temples and learn how to listen, we begin to find greater knowing and clarity in our lives.
Here’s a link to a short video, where I read a poem about the inner temple…
A major aspect of tending our inner temple is the opening and cultivation of energy. This chi energy — our aliveness — is contacted through movement, breath, and sound, the three key components of the Tantra path. Using sensual energy as a path toward awakening, our habitual patterns around relationship and sexuality can be transformed, so that every cell feels alive, turned on, and full of pleasure.
This takes practice. But, practicing with others makes it a joy to learn. In my work and teaching, I guide groups of like-hearted people in Tantra practices from beginning, all the way to advanced. No matter how long we’ve been on the path, we always start right where we are.
